The Regina Canada Day celebration at Wascana Centre is proudly organized by a dedicated board of volunteers, all of whom are members of the Regina community. Together with additional local volunteers, these board members work tirelessly to bring this vibrant celebration of Canada Day to life each year, creating an inclusive and joyful experience for all attendees.

 

Director of Ground Operations – Regina Canada Day

 

The Director of Ground Operations oversees the physical setup, logistics, and site management for Regina Canada Day. This role ensures all event areas are safely and efficiently organized—from infrastructure setup to tear-down after the celebrations.

 

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate site layout and logistics, including tents, fencing, signage, power, waste management, and equipment rentals ect.

Supervise setup and tear-down crews before and after the event.

Work with other directors to meet their site needs (vendors, entertainment, beer gardens, etc.).

Oversee safety, accessibility, and crowd flow on event day.

Liaise with Wascana Centre, contractors, and city departments as needed.

Strong leadership and organizational skills.

Experience in event logistics, operations, or site management an asset.

Comfortable working outdoors and handling physical event setup.

Available for planning meetings, setup days, and full-day coordination on July 1.

Director of Volunteers – Regina Canada Day

 

The Director of Volunteers oversees all volunteer recruitment, coordination, and support for Regina Canada Day. This role ensures the event runs smoothly by organizing a strong, enthusiastic volunteer team to assist across all areas on July 1, setup days and tear down.

 

Key Responsibilities

Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for event setup, tear-down, and day-of operations.

Communicate regularly with volunteers before and during the event.

Work with other directors to identify volunteer needs for specific zones (e.g., Family Fun Zone, Beer Gardens, Info Booth, etc.).

Manage volunteer check-in, orientation, and on-site support on event day.

Recognize and thank volunteer’s post-event.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Experience in event coordination, volunteer management, or customer service an asset.

Friendly, approachable, and comfortable leading teams.

Available for monthly board meetings and days around the event.

Available for planning meetings, setup days, and full-day coordination on July 1.

Media Relations & Social Media Director – Regina Canada Day

 

The Media Relations & Social Media Director is responsible for promoting Regina Canada Day through media outreach and digital engagement. This volunteer board role helps shape the public image of the event and connects the community with all that’s happening on July 1 in Wascana Centre.

 

Key Responsibilities

Manage all Regina Canada Day social media accounts and create engaging posts leading up to and during the event.

Manage the Regina Canada Day website and update as needed.

Coordinate press releases, media interviews, and on-site coverage.

Work with sponsors, vendors, and entertainment teams to share updates and announcements.

Maintain a consistent brand voice and positive online presence.

Provide basic post-event analytics and recommendations.

Strong communication and writing skills.

Experience with social media management and basic design tools (e.g., Canva, Meta Business Suite).

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented volunteer environment.

Available for planning meetings, setup days, and full-day coordination on July 1.

 

Director of Sponsorship – Regina Canada Day

 

The Director of Sponsorship is responsible for securing financial and in-kind support to help make Regina Canada Day possible. This role builds and maintains relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community partners to strengthen the event’s impact and visibility.

 

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain sponsorship packages and proposals.

Identify, contact, and secure sponsors at various levels (Red, Gold, Silver, Bronze, In-Kind).

Work closely with other directors to fulfill sponsor benefits, signage, and recognition during the event.

Track sponsorship commitments, deliverables, and post-event thank-you.

Support media and marketing team in highlighting sponsor partnerships.

Strong communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.

Experience in sales, fundraising, or community partnerships an asset.

Organized and detail-oriented, with a professional and friendly approach.

Director of Security – Regina Canada Day

The Director of Security is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for all attendees, volunteers, and participants at Regina Canada Day. This role oversees all aspects of site safety, emergency planning, and coordination with security partners and first responders.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement the event’s security and emergency response plan.

Coordinate with Regina Police Service, Wascana Centre, and other safety partners.

Oversee on-site security personnel, crowd control, and access management on event day.

Ensure safety measures are in place for stages, beer gardens, fireworks, and family zones.

Support post-event incident reporting and debriefing.

Hire and schedule security event staff for on-site operations

Background in security, emergency management, or public safety preferred.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.

Director of Vendors – Regina Canada Day

The Director of Vendors is responsible for coordinating all food and exhibitor participation at Regina Canada Day. This role ensures a diverse and enjoyable mix of vendors while managing logistics, communication, and site layout for a smooth event experience.

Key Responsibilities

Recruit, confirm, and coordinate all food vendors and exhibitor participants.

Manage vendor applications, payments, and required documentation (permits, insurance, , Saskatchewan Health Authority, etc.).

Develop vendor site maps and assign locations in coordination with Ground Operations.

Communicate setup times, guidelines, and expectations with all vendors.

Support vendor check-in, troubleshooting, and coordination on event day.

Work with the sponsorship and marketing teams to promote vendors in event materials and online.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Experience with event coordination, vendor management, or customer service an asset.

Detail-oriented and comfortable handling multiple logistics.

Director of Beverage Services – Regina Canada Day

The Director of Beverage Services oversees all operations of the outdoor bar and beverage area at Regina Canada Day. This role ensures responsible service, smooth logistics, and a fun, safe experience for guests in the Beer Gardens.

Key Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of the outdoor bar, including layout, setup, and inventory control.

Coordinate with beverage partners, suppliers, and sponsors for product orders and deliveries.

Recruit and schedule bar staff or volunteers, ensuring all have valid Serve It Right certification.

Oversee bar operations on event day, including cash handling, ID verification, and responsible service.

Work with Security, Ground Operations, and Sponsorship teams to maintain a safe, efficient area.

Ensure compliance with all SLGA regulations and event permits.

Experience in bar management, event operations, or hospitality an asset.

Strong organizational and leadership skills.

Knowledge of responsible alcohol service and compliance standards.

Director of Accounting – Regina Canada Day

The Director of Accounting is responsible for managing the financial operations of Regina Canada Day, ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and transparency of all funds related to the event. This role supports the Board in maintaining sound financial practices and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee budgeting, bookkeeping, and financial recordkeeping for the organization.

Track and apply for income and expenses, including sponsorships, grants, and vendor payments.

Process invoices, reimbursements, and deposits in coordination with the Board Chair.

Prepare financial reports for board meetings and post-event summaries.

Ensure compliance with financial policies, nonprofit reporting requirements, and audit procedures.

Support Directors with budget planning for their respective areas.

Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial management.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Familiarity with basic accounting software or spreadsheets.

Chair – Regina Canada Day

The Chair provides leadership and direction to the Regina Canada Day Board of Directors, overseeing all planning, coordination, and execution of the annual July 1 celebration. This role ensures the event’s vision, goals, and community values are upheld while fostering collaboration across all committee members.

 

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support the Board of Directors in organizing all aspects of the event.

Chair board meetings and ensure effective communication among directors.

Act as the primary spokesperson and representative for Regina Canada Day with media, partners, and government agencies.

Oversee budgeting, sponsorship, logistics, fireworks and programming to ensure a successful event.

Build and maintain positive relationships with sponsors, stakeholders, and community partners.

Ensure compliance with organizational policies, permits, and safety requirements.

Support succession planning and long-term growth of the event.

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Experience in event management, community leadership, or nonprofit governance an asset.

Confident public speaker and community ambassador.

Vice Chair (President) – Regina Canada Day

The Vice Chair supports the leadership and overall coordination of Regina Canada Day, working closely with the Chair to ensure the successful planning and execution of the annual celebration. This role helps guide the Board of Directors, fosters collaboration, and ensures the event reflects community pride and national spirit.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Chair in leading board meetings and organizational planning.

Oversee and support directors in achieving their event goals and timelines.

Act as a spokesperson and representative of Regina Canada Day when needed.

Help manage partnerships with sponsors, media, and community organizations.

Step in to perform the duties of the Chair if they are unavailable.

Contribute to long-term event planning, governance, and strategic development.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Experience in event planning, nonprofit leadership, or community initiatives an asset.

Collaborative and organized, with the ability to support multiple teams.

Assistant Director – Regina Canada Day (Multiple Positions)

The Assistant Director is a flexible and hands-on role that supports all areas of Regina Canada Day’s planning and operations. This position is ideal for someone eager to get involved, learn how the event comes together, and assist board members wherever help is needed.

Key Responsibilities

Work alongside board members to assist with planning, setup, logistics, vendors, volunteers, and communications.

Attend meetings and learn about each department’s responsibilities.

Help coordinate setup and tear-down before and after the event.

Support on-site operations on July 1, filling in where extra help is required.

Contribute ideas and assist in ensuring a smooth and successful celebration.

Reliable, enthusiastic, and willing to learn.

Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Interest in event management or community involvement.

Available for planning meetings and event-day participation on July 1.
